The Triangulation essay

Triangulation Essay

In our world there must be control but what will happen when it is taken to the extreme? The book Anthem, short story Harrison Bergeron, and movie Antz all have different societies that are subjected to obsessive control. So they are different but then again they are the same. If obsessive control exists in a society major outburst of rebellion will happen.
In the book “Anthem” the society controls everything! They choose what jobs people will have and once the job is given they will do that job all there life. The people all do the same thing. They eat, sleep, socialize, wakeup, and work all at the same time. This is the kind of control the government has on them. Also the people are always being watched so if they step out of line they were burned in the town center. They  rebel against government.
The movie Antz also shows obsessive control, the higher ranked ants have rights to take away rashings if a ant steps out of line. In the movie the rebellious ant “Z” goes to a bar. Then the other ants say “5 O’clock time to dance. Then they all do the same dance. Z does his own dance and is told to stop. The control in this is huge because they all do the same dance at the same time every signal day. One part in this in the movie was when the higher ranked ants forced the lower ranked ants to build a mega tunnel that would soon lead to be the death of them…or will it? The higher rank ants new it would wipe out the rest of the colony so they went to safety while the others stayed inside. They wanted to start a new colony.
Finally in the short story Harrison Bergeron the obsessive control goes through the roof! First off the government always knows what you’re thinking which kind of branches off into they then give you handicaps based on you physical and mental abilities or disabilities. Some are weaker or stronger, some are dumber or smarter, or some are even prettier than others. So they will give you handicaps based off of that. They control whatever handicaps they give you so if you take them off they will know! If they lose control over you like they did Harrison. They will kill them if they become a threat to the government or society.
So you see now that obsessive control can really ruin your day. The three examples are only some of many dystopic societies that there are. If the technology keeps advancing as fast it is now we could very well end up in an obsessively controlled society.
